Marine & Deep-Sea
Excellent resistance to saline and weather makes WICAB's REC, EPB, and High Voltage series the ideal choice for ocean, offshore, and deep-sea motor applications.
Winding Wire for Marine & Deep-Sea Applications
Ocean and sea environments present a unique combination of stresses that eliminate most standard winding wire options: constant saline exposure, high humidity, wide temperature variation, UV and weather exposure on deck, and the extreme pressures of deep-water operation. WICAB Engineering’s advanced polymer winding wire series - REC, EPB, and the High Voltage Integrated Insulation series - are specifically rated for “Excellent” resistance to saline (saltwater) and weather, making them the natural choice for marine and offshore applications.
Applications
Offshore Platform and Vessel Motor Systems
Motors aboard offshore oil and gas platforms, marine vessels, and coastal installations operate in a continuous saline-atmosphere environment. WICAB’s REC and EPB series winding wires resist the corrosive effects of salt-laden air and spray, maintaining dielectric performance over extended service intervals without the insulation degradation common in standard enamelled wires exposed to marine conditions.
Deep-Sea and Subsea Equipment
The combined demands of deep-sea applications - high hydrostatic pressure, zero-oxygen environments, and persistent saline immersion - require winding wire with insulation systems that neither absorb water nor alter their physical properties under pressure. The REC, EPB, and PE2/PP series achieve “ZERO” water absorption, making them well suited to underwater thrusters, subsea pump motors, and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) drive systems.
High-Capacity Marine Pumps
The High Voltage Integrated Insulation series is developed for large submersible motors used in high-capacity marine and coastal water management - including desalination plant high-pressure pumps, harbour and dock dewatering systems, and offshore water injection equipment. These motors require winding wire that can sustain elevated voltages and continuous duty cycles in saline-adjacent environments.
Coastal and Weather-Exposed Infrastructure
Wind turbines, tidal generators, and wave energy systems in coastal and offshore locations subject motor windings to long-term UV, weather, and salt-air exposure. WICAB’s weather-resistant insulation ratings support reliable long-term operation in these environments.
